Being a Long time user of Firefox after finding the features it holds which, Stupidly Microsoft IE6 lacks (such as simple tabbed browsing) I have since used Firefox as my main internet browser. With each and every update it gets better and better, So this page of the website is to promote the browser to people who have either not heard of it nor use it.

In Late 2006 it was obvious Microsoft had seen the light, and released thier answer to Mozilla's Firefox Browser, but in thier flash of inspiration, they also forgot to include the older browsers than XP. Therefore, Windows 2000, a very substancial browser, even 7 years on from its release would not get the benefit of having Internet Explorer 7. Great, Kudos Researchers!

The Incompatability of having IE7 locked to XP+ Operating systems left a great void in the industry that i work in, Web Design.

in my office at work, we have a variety of operating systems, so we need to test the websites we create on a variety of browsers, but having only 1 version of XP in the office and it being the main operating system used by one of our guys, we cannot update it past IE6, because of the bundles of extra nonsensical code used in the browser, from the ideas of the brainiacs at Microsoft, So therefore we cannot check what sites looklike in IE7.

Not a big deal i hear you cry, or why not just update it. well alot of our clients are in the same boat, and still stuck on IE6, so we need to check what it looks like to those people, due to the stupidity of not being compliant ot basic html languages in IE6, so firefox is our best option to check what it looks like in a REAL browser, that represents things AS they should be! (something i am led to believe IE7 does also).

So this page is here to give you a link, if you are still using IE6, and cannot get IE7, to Firefox. Use it for a few days and see what you think! If after this time you are not happy with the way it performs, uninstall it. It leaves no bugs behind and leaves your computer asif you never had it. Alternatively, If like me, you get used to seeing things as they should be, keep it, and enjoy the freedom of browsing.

Some of Firefox's Features are as follows:

  • Popup Blocking as Standard
  • Compliance to HTML Standards (so things look as they should)
  • Tabbed Browsing (save computer memory - RAM - by opening new tabs rather than a whole new browser)
  • Spell Checking In Forms
  • Searchbar Built-in (where you can add additional searches of your choice!)
  • Session Restore (incase your computer crashes or the program crashes, you can pickup where you left off)
  • Web Feeds Function (RSS Compatability)
  • Phishing Filters
  • And Above all else, Firefox is Open Source, Which means developers can edit the code and reproduce copies of the program how they like, so theres endless supplies of "add-ons" to get for the browser to make it as economical as possible for your style.

So Download it, and decide for yourself whats better for you, IE6, IE7, Or Firefox.
